Frequently Asked Questions
-
How long is a typical online therapy session?
Therapy sessions are typically 50-55 minutes long. I find this timeframe allows us to engage in meaningful therapeutic work without feeling rushed, ensuring you have the space to process and integrate insights from our conversation.
Do you offer in-person appointments, or is all counseling conducted via telehealth?
To provide consistent, flexible care to residents across both states, all sessions are conducted via secure video therapy (telehealth). This allows you to receive online counseling in California or online therapy in Oregon from the comfort and convenience of your chosen private space.
How often do most clients schedule their sessions?
For most clients, especially when addressing significant issues like trauma or anxiety, I recommend starting with a regular once-per-week session time. This consistency is essential for building momentum and achieving the best long-term outcomes. We will discuss your specific goals and ideal frequency during your initial consultation.
Note for Couples: We begin with a joint intake session, followed by one individual session with each partner, before returning to regular sessions together.

I am looking for a therapist in Oregon or California. Can I work with you?
Yes! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) licensed to provide virtual counseling to residents throughout the entire state of Oregon (LCSW L11516) and the entire state of California (LCSW 124545).
What is the process for new clients to schedule an initial consultation?
The initial step is to reach out! The process differs slightly based on your location:
For Oregon Clients: Please contact the scheduling team at Positive Inner Self by phone at (503) 461-3910 or email at intake@positiveinnerself.com. They will coordinate the initial steps, including insurance verification (if applicable).
For California Clients: Please email my direct intake line at intake@padnickcounseling.com.
Once contact is made, the steps involve discussing fees/insurance, confirming a consistent meeting time that works for us both, and completing simple intake paperwork before our initial appointment.
